A Lifestyle Change

Hey guys! So this post is a little different from usual but I thought that it would be something good to document and some of you might even find it interesting especially seeing as a majority of people have decided to focus on fitness as one of their 2017 resolutions.

Towards the end of 2016, around October time I decided to join the gym with my mum and we both made the decision to invest in a personal trainer. My mum had a very specific goal in mind of losing weight for her 50th birthday party in January, whereas mine was the old ‘I-just-want-to-lose-weight’ kind of scenario. In the beginning I was very committed – I stuck to my diet plan, went to the gym at least 4 times a week and drank 3-4 litres of water a day. As I became used to the routine, my trainer asked me to go to the gym once in the morning and once in the evening before dinner. I tried it out and soon fell ill as I was over-exerting myself as I had only been exercising for about 3 weeks prior to this.
My gym attendance slowly started to fall after this and with Christmas not fast approaching, I had food constantly on my mind. (I mean, who doesn’t love eating their bodyweight in pigs and blankets?) It’s now the New Year and I feel even more sluggish and horrible in myself than I did in the last few months of 2016, whereas my mum has lost almost 3 stone and looks incredible!

It’s now reached a point where I not only want to, but need to make a change. Health and fitness plays a huge part in my life that I haven’t really understood before, as it takes a toll on my mental health. Having previously been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, self-esteem and self-preservation are things I find difficult to deal with, but I hope to come out better on the other side by the end of the year. I am starting the new year with a new job, new driving lessons, and the hope of moving out as the year comes to an end. I am going to start my fitness journey again, but taking it one step at a time – without pushing my limits. I have decided to create a fitness segment of my blog where I can document this, as I believe it will be the extra motivation I need, it will be a great way to track my progress and it can also be a source of information for anyone else embarking on a 2017 fitness journey.
I am so excited to share this with you all. Let me know what you guys think!
Love, Aysh x
