PAUSE | It’s What Gives You Your Power

Something we all live by, but tend not to take much notice of, is time. Will I get something done on time? Am I going to be late? Do I have enough time to get everything I want done? These are questions we are faced with everyday, and little by little these questions can end up hurting us in the long run.

I’ve come to realise that it is so important to take time out and to know when to press pause on a busy life. No matter what stage you are at and no matter how much you feel your attention is needed elsewhere, there is nothing more important than remembering to just stop and take a breather.

Personally, I tend to be quite bad when it comes to cutting myself some slack and having some me time. It’s only recently, after taking a long break away from my blog and social media, that I’ve come to realise just how important ‘me’ time actually is. I’ve recently found myself busier than ever, as my blog is growing I am getting more and more opportunities left, right and centre, and as much as I want to take on them all, I need to realise I’m not superwoman and I can’t do everything. Who wants to live their lives constantly juggling events, replying to a million emails a day, keeping on top of finances, and promising on jobs with timeframes that you simply can’t deliver along with all the stress and anxiety that comes with it. Certainly not me, well not anymore.

I’ve always been a ‘yes’ person. At home, with friends and family, at my job and now when it comes to my blog. It used to be unbelievably exciting and I loved the idea of constantly being busy, but eventually things take a toll and you realise just how exhausting it can be.

The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k: Amazon

Today I’m taking full advantage of the weekend, I have put a pause on admin and I have allowed myself to spend the day dedicated to me. Working 9-6 with six events this week that I’ve had to fit around my schedule, I am completely and utterly burnt out. I remembered that I only got half way through a book I was reading and that I received the dreamiest bath set, so I’m going to relax and let my thoughts melt away with the bubbles. As for the rest of the evening, I plan on lighting my candles, drinking red wine and eating chocolate to my heart’s content whilst snuggling up and watching The X Factor.

There is absolutely no way you can be 100% and give something or someone your all when you don’t feel 100% with yourself. So this is just a reminder to take a break from a busy life, and pause. It’s what gives you your power.

Love, Aysh x
