You may have seen that last month I took a mini break to Paris… I brought my mum and we were lucky enough to stay at the Idol Hotel. If you’re anything like me, then you’ll totally understand the appeal of a hidden boutique hotel! They offer so much more than your average mainstream hotel full of tourists and the bustle of businessmen. You can spend hours wandering down endless streets exploring the local surroundings and everything these cute hidden gems have to offer – which was definitely a bonus in Paris!
The hotel was situated down a hidden street on the corner of a main road leading away from Saint-Lazare metro station. This was idyllic as we were still close to transport but had the luxury of walking into a different part of the city if we wanted to. (It was only a 15-minute walk to Galeries Lafayette which reaped havoc on my bank balance)!
As soon as you enter, it immediately becomes clear how the Idol Hotel got it’s name. The decor is musically and vintage inspired – from an old record player and bookshelves full of records, to art hangings and signed pictures of famous music idols. Each room is named after famous songs such as an old Stevie Wonder hit ‘Moon Blue’ or ‘Lady Soul’ by the famous Temptations.
We stayed in the room ‘Light My Fire‘ and it was so lovely! The rooms are quite small (unless you get a suite), but the decor certainly made up for this! In each room there is a lovely double bed, desk with a chair, half a wardrobe either side of the bed, a TV with drawers underneath, a bathroom with both a bath and a shower and a separate toilet. My favourite part of the room were the built in speakers that you can connect to via bluetooth to play whatever tunes you fancy!
When looking online, I had seen that some of the rooms had stunning balconies however our room didn’t. At first this was a little bit of a disappointment, but when I realised that the windows doubled up as doors and opened into the room, the view from our bed was spectacular! Paris is such a beautiful city and having this dreamy hotel down a hidden street was so perfect for me as I felt as if I lived there!
In terms of service, the hotel was truly amazing! When we first arrived the maître d’hôtel Marie was incredibly welcoming. She asked if there were any particular places I planned to visit and when I got out my massive list, she was more than happy to mark out each location on a map for me. You can also request room service up until 11pm at night, or even request your breakfast to be brought to your room each morning – which just made the stay so perfect! They even have an Honesty Bar in the lobby downstairs which is perfect if you don’t want to go out for drinks! You simply make yourself whatever drink you’d like, and leave a note with your room number at the end of the night so it can be added to your bill. How easy is that?!
I would definitely recommend staying at Idol Hotel Paris, not only for the stunning venue and service but the location is just perfect! Thank you so much to the hotel for inviting me to stay and I will definitely be back next Summer!
Love, Aysh x
