I was once a morning person. Well, at least my idea of a morning person. But recently, I’ve found myself tipping into a downwards spiral of constantly being exhausted and not wanting to drag myself out of bed. So I decided it was time for a change, and I’ve been taking a few steps to get me up and out of bed each morning.
There is nothing more demotivating than being unorganised, and one thing I’ve learnt is that a productive morning starts the night before. It is absolutely crucial to buy as much time as possible by getting ready in advance. If I have a lot on at work, I’ll make a note of my top priorities in my diary before going to bed. If I want to get in that early morning gym session, I’ll lay out my gym gear so I can roll straight out of bed and go. Trust me it really helps!
WRITE DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS
Lists, lists, lists! They are your best friend. I dare you to counter me with anything more productive than a list? Scribbling tasks down each morning and ticking them off helps contribute to a stress-free mind. I find that the easiest thing to do is to write down one big task, three medium-sized tasks and five odd bits I need to get done. I’ll always focus on working through my biggest task first and then head on to the smaller tasks to give my mind a bit of a break.
TAKE 10 MINUTES OF ME TIME
Whilst I drink my coffee in bed, I like to take a few minutes and gather some inspiration for the day. Instagram and Pinterest are a godsend for this. I love nothing more than scrolling through beautifully curated pictures, be it fashion, beauty, travel etc. I also love checking in on my Happiness Planner app! It’s great to mark out my goals for the day and enjoy some inspirational reading to motivate myself to be the best possible version of me.
