Over the past year or so, I’ve had some extreme ups and downs – life isn’t always perfect and we all know that; but I’ve learnt that although I may not have everything, I am a much better person for making the most of what I do have. Life is so unpredictable and we never know what is going to happen next. So much has happened to our beautiful planet this year, not to mention to devastating tragedies in the UK over the last few months, which got me thinking – just how much do we all take for granted?
Do you ever just take a second to sit back, reflect on things or moments in your life and feel grateful? If the answer is no, then let’s face it – you should. Most people know that gratitude doesn’t always come easy. Hell, in some situations we’re lucky if it comes at all. But for those of us who make a conscious effort to be more appreciative or even those who are trying to learn the true meaning of being grateful, then this one is for you!
Recently I came across two books ‘How to Be Mindful’ ‘It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be’ and it seriously helped me to change my perspective on things. I’m learning how to focus my energy on things that will help me grow and push me forward in life. I’m also learning to become more mindful about things in my life that I should be appreciating every day. I appreciate every comment I get on my social media posts, every time someone says they love my style or that little friendly compliment – you might not know it, but all these comments help to boost my self-confidence and motivation every day.
The trouble is I don’t think we realise just how much of a positive impact practising gratitude can have on our lives every single day. Simply being thankful for what we have, counting our blessings and acknowledging the little things makes such a difference to the way we look at life. Sometimes on a Monday morning when I’m sat on my 7.45am train, I take a look at the handles ticking away on my watch and think ‘what am I grateful for today?’ I’m grateful for my career and all the people who have helped me up to the position I am in now. I’m grateful for my boyfriend who has taught me to know my worth, who picks me up when I’m down and shows undivided gratitude every single day. I am grateful for all the support from my family, friends and followers of my blog, who inspire and motivate me to continue this journey. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have been given, from attending beautiful events to being given a chance to turn my interests into a career, and for all the brands and products I am getting to work with. Special shout out to Versus Versace for gifting me the watch featured in this post – my most exciting collaboration to date.
I’m sure we’ve all heard of the saying “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”, but how many of us really think about what would happen if this was taken away from us? In today’s society, especially with the rise and influence of social media platforms, it is so important to practice and teach gratitude to create and set the foundations for future generations.
What are you most grateful for? And don’t forget to let me know what you thought of this post!
Love, Aysh x
